They say if you can ski Mt. Baker you can ski anywhere. Mount Baker is just 2.5 hours north of Seattle but a local secret for great and affordable skiing. Not crowded, friendly folks, multiple levels and options for winter sports. The closest skiing in Seattle is Snoqualmie so lots more novices and families go there just because it’s 45 minutes from the city but drive a little further north and book a night in Glacier or Bellingham (awesome college town for beer, books and food) and have a real trip. Powder yourself with sunshine.
The bunny slopes are a little more difficult than usual to tackle but a great introduction for any newbie. The rope tow is free and the lift passes are affordable. Hooked my kids!
