Hiking in flip flops: Point Loma, San Diego and Crystal Cove, Orange County California

Southern California is known for beaches but while I swam in Venice and Santa Monica during my youth, they have all become strewn with tourists and not as magical as an an adult. Nowadays we  venture to beaches in Orange County just south of LA county for sand and waves. Our favorite is Crystal Cove state beach. If you’re lucky you’ll catch dolphins in the distance.

New discovery in San Diego today: Point Loma tidal pools. Warm water greets you after climbing stone steps in flip flops. My kind of summer hiking.   Visit if you can, it won’t disappoint.
